What do you mean you've never heard of it??? Oh, that's cause it hasn't been shown in North America yet (though I did hear that it plays at the Toronto International Film Festival). Forget about the new Jesse James movie that was filmed in Edmonton, I'd rather see this movie.
For those of you who don't know me, let me explain. I love those quirky, offbeat horror movies. Things like Frankenhooker, Susperia, Class of 1984, Bones, Toxic Avenger, and others that you might not have heard of rank up there for me.
So what's so special about this movie?
First, it's a New Zealand release - it's kind of a foreign film, but you can still understand them... Second, the special effects are by Weta Workshop, the very same company that did Lord of the Rings. Third, it's got quirky monsters.
What kind of quirky monsters? How about killer sheep! No joke, actual killer sheep! This is finally their revenge for all those sheep jokes!
So, what's so scary about sheep? Well, as mentioned, New Zealand is a sheep-filled nation - over 40 million of them, larger than the population of Canada, in a pretty tiny country by comparison.
Also, these flesh eaters have been described as being able to give Romero's zombies a run for their money. I can't wait!
Have a gawk at the trailers and see what all the fuzz, er, fuss, is about.
