We went the first few days, but didn't see any big name shows this time, though there were a few that would have been great to see. It's also a reason to come back to visit again - other than the fact that my step-daughter lives here... :-)
The fun thing this year was watching the crowd more than the artists. When the band starts it's fun to watch the crowd respond, especially if they know the music, but even if they don't know, it still makes them respond. The two groups of people who are fun to watch are the young and the old. The young don't have any preclusions about what is acceptable, so they dance how they feel, sometimes off the beat of the music, but mostly following it pretty well. The old dance similarly, but do so because they don't care what other people think about their style of dancing - they just move to the groove. It's great, and I think we should all do it.
Just Let The Rhythm...
Before the
Jazz Fest
Is over,
Complete
Just let the
Rhythm
Take over
Your Feet
Excited,
Toes tap
To a new
World Beat
Infectious,
Toes tap,
You admit
Defeat.
The rhythm
It moves you
Horn section
Just soothes you
Bass line
Just grooves you
The ensemble
Behooves you
To Dance
And move you.
All over
The crowd,
A pattern,
Repeat
Just let the
Rhythm
Take over your feet.
Till the next Jazz Fest, au revoir.
